9th Treatment - August 7, 2008

Today was the beginning of my 3rd cycle of Chemo. Travis and I met with Dr. Chandramouli for an appointment before treatment to discuss my blood counts, side effects, our up coming trip to Panama, and to schedule an echo for my heart and a PET scan to see how the cancer is responding to treatment. I was advised to wear a mask while traveling, which definitely made me feel like an idiot while on the plane, but getting sick in a foreign country didn't sound good either. Anyways, I was given special antibiotics and a thermometer to carry with me at all times. I also was told to not drink water unless from a bottle and no salads. He also asked me to stay out of the Canal. No problem. The water looked filthy! Travis headed back to work and Amy Astill was my chemo buddy today! Treatment took a long time today since it was the long treatment day with the added Zomata drug (bone strengthening). Time flew, Amy brought bagel sandwiches and before you knew it we were being sent on our way home. I have loved having friends come to chemo with me and just catching up for a few hours together! Thanks Amy!

Like I told you already, I love hanging with you - It is just a bummer that it happened to be at your chemo treatment. It was an eye opening experience for me. You are a trooper, keep fighting! (Tell your doctor he really should cut his hair, it's like he's rubbing it in to all his patients that loose theirs!)
