Oregon - Sept. 17-Sept 20 2009

Well, I am finally getting around to documenting our Oregon trip. After I posted all the pictures I realized they are in reverse order. Oh well! Day one began in SLC at the airport. We flew to Oregon with all my former YW presidency + advisers and husbands. Our first stop was M. Falls and then Saltys for a fun lunch. We then headed to Newport Beach to our beach house. It was cozy and beautiful. We went for a walk on the beach and a nummy dinner at a little cafe off the beach.

Friday morning we met up with the rest of the group at Rosies for lunch. No cell phone service, no internet. It was beautiful! The beach and ocean looked like a scene from Goonies. See pictures below. Following lunch we saw a light house and a cool old "octopus" tree. We then had scoops of the best icecream at Tillamok Cheese Factory. We then headed back to Newport at walked on the beach again. We ate at Savory Cafe and headed back to the condo. We couldn't get a hold of the rest of the gang to play the Newly Wed game. Too bad, I heard we missed a lot of sordid details!

Saturday morning we packed up and headed to Eugene for the Utah game. It was drizzly and cool. The drive was slow, but scenic. I loved how green everything was. At the "O" stadium we were lost in a see of green and yellow. I have to say, however, that the fans were super friendly and nice to all of us outsiders. There were quite a few Utah fans and we were all pumped! Right before the game started, the announcer announced, "It never rains at Autzen Stadium". LOL - we were all in ponchos and very wet. It never really poured, but it drizzled and misted the entire game. The Utes played poorly and Oregon was great! It seemed impossible to make this mighty trek to see them play and watch them loose. Although the game was a bust, we had so much fun! Following the game we had a long drive back to Portland with all the other fans. We then checked into the hotel and got some shut eye!

Sunday morning I hooked up with my brother Paul and Sara and kids. They came and swam at the hotel pool and then we went to downtown portland. We then headed to the famous Portland Rose gardens. It was a beautiful walk and great roses. The Japanese gardens will be top on my list if we head back there. We grabbed lunch at a pub and then walked around some more. Around 3pm we headed back to the airport and flew back to reality.

What a wonderful trip with friends and family! Thanks to Barb & Chris for helping out watch my kids Thurs. and Fri. Thanks to Aunt Jack and Uncle Jon for watching them Friday through Sunday. The kids especially loved their special trip to Little America and Rio Grande!

True RED Utah Fans + Oregon = Superfun!

Great pictures! I didn't get the cute one with everybody on the bridge. The Japanese Garden will be on the top of my list for that next time as well - wish we would have had that day in Portland. Good, good times!
