6th Treatment - July 17, 2008

Today was a great day. I feel great. Lauren's cousin Britnee has been staying with us for a week and has been such great company for Lauren. Both girls have been such a joy to be around. They do preschool for Ashton daily, make messes in every room they touch, but are so eager to clean them up. We finished the reading the Book of Mormon again as a family this week while Britnee was at our home and we challenged Lauren to pray about gaining a stronger testimony about it this week. Garrett finished reading it while staying with Grandma Jacki in Driggs last week. It has been great reading it this time around because our kids ask more questions, seem more interested and aren't complaining about scripture time. I know it won't always be this way, so I'll enjoy it now. Garrett has been at scout camp this entire week and spent the previous weeks away from home too. He spent the week of 4th of July at Snowbird with my dad and the next week in Driggs, Idaho with his grandparents. He has had such a fun summer.

Jen Dillon went with me to chemo this week. It really was such a nice day. When we arrived I ran into the receptionist from the radiation dept. She grabbed my hand and squeezed tightly as we passed each other in the hall. It made me feel so good. People all over the place are wishing me the best of luck every time I turn around. Upon selecting my Lazy Boy, my nurse Doug told Jen and I this funny story of this lady who had a hard time getting her port to give any blood the previous day. The nurses this day were so funny and fun and made it so easy to be there. One of the nurses came up to me to tell me that she thought my grandma was very cute. I couldn't think of how she knew my grandma, but then she reminded me that she had found samples of Prevacid for me to take while my doctor was trying to get the insurance company to approve this drug while under treatment. She had offered to drive them to my grandma's house near St. Mark's hospital. My grandma had a stroke a while ago and sometimes mixes up things. I assumed this was one of her mix ups. She said that one of my friends had ridden over on a motorcycle and dropped these samples off. She kept calling my friend a girl, but I assumed she was confused. Anyways, this nurse is a woman and drives a Harley and did bring Prevacid to my grandma's. I was the one mixed up. Anyways, Utah Cancer Specialists have great nurses, doctors and staff. My Treatment took about 3 1/2 hours and time passed by quickly. Jen is so excited about her new home and move to Riverton, but we both are so sad about her moving away from the neighborhood. My kids love her kids and we love their family, and they will truly be missed. However, we know that we'll see each other often to hook up with Brinli or Dax or just for lunch.
