12th Treatment - August 28, 2008

Today was my 12th treatment and my sister, Shari and her new baby Carver flew in today for a much anticipated visit. My brother David picked Shari up at the airport and brought her to chemo today. Stephanie Thatcher came with me today and we secured a the "sick" room so that we'd all fit and not disrupt the Chemo treatment room. Today was my "light" week and only received herceptin. The past couple of treatments the nurses have ran herceptin over 1/2 hour instead of 1 1/2 hours. I was a little concerned since herceptin can cause problems with your heart, I discussed it with the nurse and since I only receive a weekly dose it can be ran over 1/2 hour. We were in an out so fast it made our heads spin! Stephanie was so cute and took us all to Cafe Rio for lunch after. I so appreciate her generosity and sweetness even buying my sister's lunch. We enjoyed lunch and then grabbed kids and headed home to get ready for our family camp out at Lava Hot Springs.

This week was my 1/2 way point in treatment. I had several tests and scans this week. On Monday I had and Echo at the Heart Center. On Wednesday I had another PET scan. It involved no exercise for two day, no carbs, no sugar, no caffeine for 24 hours prior to the scan. Following the PET scan I had a diagnostic Chest CT Scan as well. Results would come on September 4th at my next appointment with Dr. Chandramouli. I'm prayerful and hopeful that the chemo is shrinking the cancer.
