Well, we are right in the middle of Garrett completing his Eagle Project. He decided to do a clothing drive for Crossroads Urban Thrift Store. Shortly after turning twelve, Garrett and our Young Men's and Young Women's group participated in a service project to clean the children's play area, sort clothing, clean the storage area and other miscellaneous jobs at Crossroads Urban Thrift Store. It is a store for the homeless and disadvantage that serves the downtown Salt Lake area. After the youth had worked for about an hour and a half, the store manager, pulled all the youth together and told them about all the good they had done. She talked to them about who they had helped and what still could be done to help. She talked about the need for NEW men's underwear, socks and dish/kitchen towels. She said that the homeless would seek out a member of any clergy and be given 3 days worth of clothing vouchers. Upon returning home that evening, Garrett and I decided that a clothing drive for Crossroads Urban Thrift Store would be his Eagle Project. He has worked hard for 2 years completing 21 merit badges, going on 2 week long camping trips, 20 + camp outs, and many other accomplishments. It is great to finally be at this point. This Wednesday at 7:00 pm, Garret and his troop will be collecting donations set out on the porch. He is collecting NEW men's underwear, socks, and dish/kitchen towels. It has been fun to see the pile of donations grow in our front room. It will be fun to see the the manager's face at Crossroads when Garrett delivers the items donated. Thanks for all your support!
