Iverson Family Campout at Lava Hot Springs, Idaho 8/29 - 9/1

Today is Trav's and my 16th year anniversary. We know how to celebrate, plan an Iverson camp out! My sister Shari and her baby Carver came from Philadelphia, my dad drove up from St. George, and my brother Dave and his wife Tammy and their three kids all caravaned to Lava. We left on Friday afternoon, ate in Tremonton, and set up camp at the Cottonwood Family Campground in Lava Hot Springs. It was cool sleeping, but nothing a cup of hot chocolate couldn't cure. Saturday morning we finished setting up camp and rented 10 tubes to ride the Portneuf River. Everyone had their own tubes except Ashton and his cousin Kamden. Travis rode with Kamden and I had Ash on my lap. Right after we got on the river, we hit a small fall that flipped Ashton and me off. Ash was traumatized but it was too fun to get out. Lauren, Ash and Kamden didn't lie riding tubes so we all headed down to the large pool for the rest of the day. The kids had fun on the water slides and diving boards. That night we did dutch oven stew, rolls and celebrated Tammy's 36th birthday. The next day half of us went to the pool and the other half did the river. We all came back for lunch as the storm clouds rolled in. The wind whipped up and started blowing over the EZ Up. Trav's mom and Grandma Bonnie drove down from Idaho Falls to see the kids swim, but we never made it back to the pool or river. The storm rolled in and never rolled out. Six of us tried to hold on to the EZup, but the wind sheered the metal posts. The fabric ripped off and the EZ UP broke. In the middle of the storm, we took Grandma Bonnie back to the car. Jacki had one side of Grandma's walker and I had the other. The wind blew Bonnie's wig off. We grabbed it before it blew onto the ground. It was so funny, and still is. We all ran to our cars and thought we'd wait out the storm, but it never passed. After about an hour, we decided that we better pack up and head home. Two hours later we headed home. Monday we all got together and did smores in our backyard and said goodbye to Shari, Carver and my dad. We all had blast together and look forward to Shari moving closer.
